SHA Hash Generator
SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 of a piece of text, hashed with the browser's own crypto engine. Nothing is sent to the server.
Hashes update as you type. Output is lowercase hexadecimal.

About
Generate SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 digests of any text using the browser own cryptography, with no upload and no server round trip. Useful for checking a checksum, comparing two strings, or producing a deterministic identifier.
How to use
- Type or paste the text into the box.
- Submit to hash it with all four algorithms at once.
- Copy the digest you need.
Frequently asked questions
Is SHA-1 still safe?
Not for signatures or anything where collision resistance matters. It survives as a checksum for accidental corruption, but use SHA-256 or better for security.
Why do the digests differ in length?
Each algorithm produces a different output size: 160 bits for SHA-1, 256 for SHA-256, and up to 512 for SHA-512.
Can I hash a file here?
Not at the moment; this works on text. For a large file, the sha256sum command on any Linux or macOS machine is the quickest route.
